Harrogate Climbing Centre was opened in February 2010 by Alan Hinkes OBE in the ex ICI factory that once made the fabric Crimplene.
The building is an industrial high bay unit, part of a larger complex known as The Zone which houses the Indulge restaurant, Cross Fit, Harrogate gymnastics, Go Yoga and various other leisure related businesses. The centre sits in the Hornbeam Park business development which houses many successful businesses including Harrogate College, Nuffield Health Club and Procter & Gamble, all of which benefit from free parking and a direct rail link to Leeds and York. The building is leased on a 20 year lease from Hornbeam Park Developments.
The climbing centre occupies 7,500 sq ft and offers substantial roped climbing areas up to 12 metres, bouldering areas, a 20 seat conference room, café and retail shop.
The centre is managed by a dedicated Centre Manager who is supported by an Assistant Manager, Operations Manager, 3 Duty Managers and a team of 20 instructors who cover the course and session delivery amongst other general duties.
